PREVENTING RODENT INFESTATION
· Seal holes
· Repair or replace screening on vents
· Provide a tight fitting cover for your homes crawl space
· Trap rodents outside the home to prevent entry
· Clean up potential rodent food sources and nesting sites
· Make sure trash cans are sealed tightly
· Not leaving pet food and water outside over night
· Fixing leaking pipes and other water sources
· Bird feeders and pet feces should be picked up daily
HOW TO SPOT RAT INFESTATIONS
· Listen for noises in the attic after dark
· Look for evidence of rodents feeding on fruits or nuts that are in your yard
· Watch for burrows among plants or damaged vegetation when working in your flower beds
· Look for burrow holes under fences & around your home
Watch for evidence of something digging under your garden tool shed or doghouse
FACTS
· Both Roof and Norway rats gain entry to structure by gnawing, climbing or jumping.
· Norway and roof rats do not get along.
· Rats of either species, especially young can squeeze through a ½ inch gaps or hole.
· Rats rarely travel more than 300 feet from there nest
